Hello,

trying to do a clean install of Xerte X on a public server. I get as far as the create database page and get SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user everytime.

I've asked our DBAs to give the user Create and Write access to the database and I can Create and Write to the database using a SQL client, but Xerte can't create a new database in the set up wizard

Does anyone know what the specific user permissions should be for the User setting up the database, or have any tips on where I might be missing something?

If you’re creating the empty database in advance just create a user just for that database and grant that user all privileges.

Also, sometimes the issue is not in the permissions, but the name of the database.

For example, do not use a hyphen (-) in the database name. Xerte's code is not able to handle that at the moment.

(Needs to be fixed).

cant say I've ever noticed that Tom but I guess because I (or the system in use) always use underscore rather than hyphen.

Also on that note with cpanel set up etc the database name usually becomes cpanelusername_dbname so during xerte setup that needs to be the same in the form field of the setup page.

I harassed our DBA a bit more and I was using the wrong password. Doh!

Has the use of - in database name been fixed in the latest code?
The reason I ask is because I cannot get past the page2 of the setup as it generates an error as "Please investigate the error messages and return to the previous page by pressing the button below! Failed to execute query line 89 page2.php"

All permissions required are in place and checked. The database name issue is the only thing I have found so far that might explain things as the server I use automatically adds an extension to the database user-provided name of -123456 where 123456 is a unique number added to prevent clashes of database name in the database server...

Any update would be greatly appreciated
