Excited to see the next Xerte Conference is in Brussels, never been but hear it will meet all my chocolate needs:-) Still need to fill out the conference form, which I'll do soon but just to say I'm happy to present and/or take a workshop.I'm planning to attend all three days.

Some questions for the Xerte community:

Who's going?
Accommodation recommendations?

We are still planning the event but the dates and location are fixed and obviously the dates and/or location won't suit everybody but then neither did previous conferences in Nottingham. Our colleagues in Belgium are still researching hotel options and we'll publicise all that in the new year. There are chocolate and/or beer tours available depending on your preference and it may well be that we arrange options as part of the event planning.
Most of the Xerte development team will definitely be there and predictably a much larger number of the Xerte community from Belgium and the Netherlands. How many others from the UK and further afield we won't really know until registration is possible but also with some insight from the Google form. forms.gle/ktUDP13VH7S2ngt68

In light of announcements from Universities across Europe and indeed the world about travel restrictions, is the any update about whether the Xerte Conference will go ahead in May?

My own University has announced with immediate effect:
• All international travel by University staff and students must move to “essential travel only” for at least the next 2 months.

We have made the decision to postpone it. It was a tough call, but we think we need to look for dates in the autumn and rearrange. Like everyone else, we are following the situation day by day, and as soon as we think we can settle on some dates with confidence we will re-launch the event.

As Julian says it was a tough but necessary call to cancel the plans for May and postpone the event until later in the year. We were going to send this round next week and you'll probably still get an email from me sent to everyone who completed the previous pre-conference survey but as you asked, and for anyone else reading this thread, we've set up a Google form to identify preferred dates from a couple of different options forms.gle/B5qT7x9jgfiW8eLTA
Obviously we'll still have to see how things progress.

Thanks for the update Julian and Ron. It's a shame but necessary in the circumstances, was really looking forward to visiting Brussels and seeing members of the Xerte community. I'll go check out the google form.

One last question, do you still want people who volunteered to present at the conference to submit their detailed proposals? I was still planning to submit mine if it helps with planning for later on in the year.
