Hi,

I've created some objects in Xerte this morning, both using the Bootstrap template and the XOT template.

I'm fine creating the pages and adding my content, but when I try to play or publish, I get a dialog box that just says "error". No error code or message so I'm not able to troubleshoot. I've not come across this before. Screenshot attached

Do any changes work?
e.g. to existing LO's?
To new LO's?
Do older/existing LO's play ok just not new LO's and new changes?

Hi Ron,

I can play existing LOs fine, and can publish. If I add any pages to existing LOs it throws up the error, and if I create any new LOs I get the error too.

Hi Helen
it sounds like you need to get whoever looks after your installation to check permissions etc. e.g. existing learning objects are working but no changes are working whether that be creating a new LO or editing an existing one.
When you create a new LO changes are made to both the database and the file system.
When you edit an existing LO changes are mostly only made to the file system unless you are changing access properties etc.
It sounds like file system permissions are no longer correct.

Hi all,

I forwarded your suggestions and got the following reply:

I have tried to see what is happening and it is not clear. Certain items seem to be working but others aren’t. I have checked the file permissions on the server and the database and both seem to be OK, unless there is another directory not listed that the software is supposed to have.
