Acces module: No HTTP Referer

Hi

I tried to restrict acces to one of my Xerte modules. I used the 'other' option in the Module properties.

The content should be only visible to people following links to my content from the sites I provide.

It does not work... When I follow the link from Moodle I get on errorscreen: No HTTP Referer. See attachement. Can somebody tell me how to quote the source website. With or withouth http, www, phptext behind /, etc

Regrettably, this error means that Moodle does NOT provide a referrer header to the request to Xerte, so it doesn't work.

I am a bit surprised by this. What version of Moodle is this, and which browser?

the newest Moodle, 3.5+ and Chrome

How is the annotation:

www.domain.com/directory/php_etc ?
Or with subdomain?
Or only the domain?

I don't think Moodle is the problem here. The referrer restriction should work fine but does need to match the domain so if you are accessing your moodle via www.somedomain then what you put in the other field needs to match that. You need the https:// or http:// you can't just put www.

But also how are you surfacing the link in Moodle? Is it a url resources? Embed code? A link in a text area? Try a url resources in the first instance and get that working first.

A bad evening so far. No extra pages in my X version, and no HTTP referer in Moodle. GRRR.

I tried a lot of things: the complete URL of the launching Moodlepage, only the domainname, nothing works.

I tried to find info in Moodledocs, but couldn't find something helpfull.
