Interactivity > Matching texts

A page that requires the learner to match pairs of items. One set of items is presented in a fixed column on the left side of the screen. Items to be matched with these are presented one by one in random order; after you have made a match, the next item appears at the top of the page. Task completion can be checked at any point, and items in an incorrect category can be dragged into another column before checking again.

Further information

This page can be tracked.

:!: Matching is fiddly for learners if they have to scroll up and down to access all drop zones. Dragging and scrolling at the same time does not work consistently. Items can be dropped temporarily into any drop zone and then re-dragged after scrolling, but this adds an additional layer of complication. Zooming out solves the problem, but may impact on readability. In practice, 3 - 5 matches is an optimum for one page. If more than 5 matches need to be made, consider designing the task over 2 or more pages.
