Interactive Video > Overlay Panel > New Multiple Choice Question

This item allows you to add a Multiple Choice Question in the Overlay panel, synched with the video in the Media Panel. The settings and functionality options are very similar to those for Interactivity > Multiple Choice Question.

Interactive Video > New MCQ: Core properties

Property Description Type Additional Information
Title Text that appears above the Multiple Choice Question Text If you are adding several MCQs, this could be “Question 1”. You can then duplicate this question to create further questions and save time editing.
Choose location Use the Hotspot Editor to indicate where on the Video Panel you want the pop-up to appear. Hotspot Editor The Video Panel is represented by a blank rectangle, but you draw the position of the overlay, and reposition or resize it as appropriate.
Question This can either be a question, or a question followed by the stem of a statement (which is completed in different ways by the answer options). Text+ (Toolbar)
Answer Type {Single Answer/Multiple Answer} Drop-down
Disable Controls Tick box
Synch Point The point in the video (in seconds) when you want this question to start displaying. Number
Pause Media Pauses the video until the learner starts it again Tick box It is generally good practice to tick this box, because it allows the learner time to read the question and reflect on the answer options, without distraction from the video continuing to play.

Interactive Video > New MCQ: Optional properties

Feedback Adds feedback which is displayed on clicking the Check button, irrespective of whether the answer is correct or incorrect. Text+
Optional Event This adds an extra stage in the process. When the video arrive at the synch point, it pauses and an icon appears in the place where you positioned the hotspot. When you click on the icon the pop-up appears. Check box
Optional Event: Hotspot Choose what you want to include with the icon {Icon and Tooltip/Icon and Label/Icon only}. Drop down
Optional Event: Icon Use the icon picker to choose a suitable icon design. Icon picker
Optional Event: Background Colour Choose the background colour for the icon. Colour picker
Optional Event: Icon Colour Choose the icon colour. Colour picker
Optional Event: Size Choose the size of the icon. Number Default - “7”
Synch Point: End Sets a point (in seconds) at which the new text disappears. Number

Interactive Video > New MCQ: Language Options

Check Button Label Text on button for submitting answer and revealing feedback. Text Default - “Check”
Continue Button Label Text on the button for continuing to the next item or question Text Default - “Continue”. This button only appears after the correct answer has been selected.
Drop Down Menu Option 1 Instruction that is displayed at the top of a Drop Down MCQ (if this Question type is selected) :?: This won't work if issue round Question Type is not resolved (see Core Properties above) FC I WILL REMOVE THIS Text Default - “Select Answer…”

Click on New Answer to open the New Answer pane. You need to add a New Answer, and complete the pane, for each of the options related to your question.

Label :!: You may not need to edit this. This label is only displayed in the authoring interface and on a Results Page (if you include one in your project). Default - “Answer”
Answer One of the options which learners will choose from. Text+ In addition to text, other content (e.g. images, audio, video) can be embedded here.
Correct This is where you mark up answer options as incorrect or correct. In the authoring interface this is displayed as {False/True}. Drop-down
