On page1.php of the XOT installation the MySQL user account is quoted as needing Create and Insert rights - however I can see from the basic.sql script that gets run that DROP is now also required in V3.0 of XOT.

Is DROP only required for installation purposes? I'd be keen to revoke DROP permissions once installation is complete (for security).

The basic.sql is only used during initial installation and not when upgrading so for a new clean install drop permissions shouldn't be needed anyway and once the installation is complete the setup folder should be removed. Obviously sometimes people hit issues and try to re-run setup over an existing database so drop may be needed in those instances. Setup should never be used on an existing install with projects that need to be kept. We have the separate upgrade script for upgrades. We also try to minimise database changes between versions and I can't recall an occasion where the upgrade script ever needed to drop a table. (But could be wrong. ;-))

Hi Ron,

That's useful background information, thanks.

This is a clean install of XOT 3.0; our solution so far has been to edit the basic.sql file to remove the drop table commands (since as you say they are not needed).
